Christmas Cabin moments 2025 - 04/12/2025

There were so many magical moments on this year's Help us Help Christmas cabin! We've pulled together a few of them into this blog...

On day one, it was great to meet these lovely ladies, who were visiting Sheffield from Glasgow. After a chat with the volunteers on the stall, they took away a bag and returned with a huge bag of donations from our shopping list.

Day two was all about collaboration and community, as we welcomed an amazing mix of people to volunteer on the stall, including: Adullam Homes, Jasmine from Shelter, two medical students shadowing homelessness services in the city, Joseph from Framework, John from Project 6 and Rachel from the RSI team.

Then staff from Sheffield City Centre NPT popped in to say hi! On the donations front, a huge shout-out to Luke, who returned with a Sainsbury’s bag full of essentials: gloves, shower gels, deodorant, toothpaste. And to Sid, son of one of our amazing Hep C Trust volunteers, for being among the first to donate.

Support from local services was brilliant throughout the week! On day two, we were joined by Beth from Likewise, Tom from Housing, and Ben’s Centre CEO, Daryl Bishop. They spent time chatting with shoppers, collecting generous donations, and even snapping photos with those who were more than happy to get involved. Thanks all!

Even rainy days didn't deter people from stopping to chat, donate, and learn more about people experiencing homelessness in Sheffield. Here's more of them!

On the final day, Richard returned! Earlier in the week, he had stopped by for a chat. Richard is an artist, and was running a stall at the Portland Works Christmas Craft Fair. He took away some of our posters and promised to donate any money raised at the fair to the Cabin. He made good on that promise and returned with a package containing £61.90! Amazing generosity, thank you!

Richard's cash donation will be shared amongst our 6 beneficiary charities, along with cash donations made to our GoFundMe page.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat, donated items or cash, and took away our newspaper to learn more!

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers who gave their time to support our campaign, and to our City Centre Ambassadors who helped us clear the cabin.

And to the many local businesses and workplaces who hosted donation points for us - you're all brilliant!

See you all next year!
